Interview with actor, Brian Krinsky of ANYTHING GOES

Brian Krinsky is an actor based out of New York City. He has done a handful of regional shows as well as one other National Tour. Brian is currently playing Billy Crocker in the National Tour of ANYTHING GOES.

The Playbill Collector (TPC): How old were you when you started performing?
Brian Krinsky (BK): I’ve been singing since before I can remember. My parents were always really involved in the arts and my dad was a musician who traveled. My older brother did theater so my younger brother and I started getting involved.

TPC: What was your first show?
BK: RUDOLPH THE RED NOSE REINDEER when I was in pre-school and was upset I didn’t get to play Rudolph; my best friend did. I did my first musical when I was six or seven which was MIRACLE ON 34th STREET. I had two lines and was really young.

TPC: Did you always do theater moving forward?
BK: In elementary school I did choir and was a trumpet player. I also did athletics but gave more weight to theater.

Screen Shot 2014-10-16 at 3.12.55 PMTPC: Did you go to college for theater?
BK: Yes, Wagner College for Musical Theater.

TPC: Your first tour was for BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Was that right after you graduated college?
BK: It was in my senior year. I had about eight to ten callbacks and was rehearsing before even graduating. I actually finished my degree on the road.

TPC: You are currently starring as Billy Crocker in the ANYTHING GOES tour. Tell us about your character.
BK: Billy is a young guy from New York. A go-getter who is working his way up the Wall Street ladder. He is a quick talker and has his goals in sight. He goes after what he wants 100%. Just like in his work life, his love life is similar. He meets a girl, Hope Harcourt, one night . He decides to follow her even if it means losing his career. He is mischievous and is walking on egg-shells but enjoying it.

TPC: What’s your favorite moment in the show?
BK: “You’re The Top” is so much fun! It shows the playfulness of Billy and his relationship with Reno.

TPC: What’s your go-to audition song?
BK: “Proud Lady” from THE BAKER’S WIFE and “How Can I Be Sure” by the Young Rascals

TPC: What’s your backstage snack?
BK: White Chocolate Macadamia Clif Bar or some type of trail mix. Sometimes a Redbull to get me through the show!

TPC: Where are you most excited to go?
BK: Florida to see family. It will be nice to be on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale.

TPC: What is a dream role of yours?
