Interview with Ryan Patrick Lingle of ELF

Ryan Patrick Lingle is currently on tour with NetWorks presentation of ELF.  This is his second year with the production and he is loving the experience.

The Playbill Collector (TPC): When did you start dancing?

Ryan Patrick Lingle (RPL): I’ve been performing my whole life. I started through choir in high school which led me into performance.

TPC: What is the first dance production you saw?
RPL: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA in my home town and it’s still one of my favorite shows.

TPC: You are currently the dance captain and swing in the National Tour of ELF.  What tracks do you cover?
RPL: I cover all of the boys in the ensemble which is seven. The female swing and I are always on every night no matter what which is fun.

Elf imageTPC: How long is the run?
RPL: We started in the beginning of November and go until the weekend after Christmas.

TPC: What’s your favorite song of the show?
RPL: “Just Like Him” where Buddy finds out he is the son of Walter and turns the office into a playground. It’s the best moment for choreography and everyone gets to let loose.

TPC: What should people know about ELF?
RPL: It’s a great holiday show! It’s less about Christmas and more about family, hope and learning how to take off your blinders.

TPC: What’s your dream show to be cast in?
RPL: WICKED. The choreography is brilliant. It has a blend of classic jazz and contemporary which I love.

TPC: When not on stage, what are your favorite hobbies?
RPL: I love theater and it is my life but I like to keep my eyes wide open. I spend a lot of time working out like running. I love to explore and being adventurous. Right now we are in Arizona so we went hiking yesterday at Camelback Mountain.  It was amazing.
