Interview with Stage Manager, Sharon Strich

Sharon Strich and I met years ago when we did Coast Kids Theatre in Oceanside, CA.  She and I both acted along with our siblings in countless musicals.  We reconnected a few months ago over a little theater reunion party.

The Playbill Collector (TPC): When did you decide to quit acting and start tech?

Sharon Strich (SS): In middle school I did both acting and tech.  However, in 9th grade, I made the transition to only tech.  I did my last show at Coast Kids in 9th grade and started doing tech at my school.

TPC: Where did you go to college and what was your degree in?

SS: George Washington University in DC.  My degree is in theater.

SS: After school I came straight back to San Diego.  My first gig was a PA at North Coast Rep.  Then Intrepid Shakespeare Company hired me.

TPC: When did you start working at Moonlight?

SS: Summer of 2012 I was hired to be on the electrics crew and assistant stage manager for FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.

TPC: You are currently working on WORLD GOES ‘ROUND at Moonlight.  What is your official title?

SS: Stage Manager

TPC: What should we know about the show?

SS: It’s a musical revue of the songs of Kander and Ebb.  There are five actors and the show is just over two hours.  It’s a unit set.  Another cool thing is the show is at the Avo Playhouse in Vista.  That’s where I did my first Coast Kids play.

TPC: What’s your dream job?

SS: I love working with smaller theaters.  There is more of a family feel.  My dream would be to be a resident stage manager for a smaller company.
